‘less is more’

‘Pine Forest’ by Tohaku Hasegawa-Tokyo National Museum.

In Japan, there is a philosophy called '引き算の美学-hikizan no bigaku.'
It teaches us that true beauty is achieved by removing the unnecessary and focusing on the essential.

We take extra care to minimise the presence of luminaires and maximise the beauty of the spaces they illuminate.

What are the benefit of the ‘less is more’?

The beauty of space.

Luminaires should provide the necessary light for the purpose of the space—be it task lighting or creating ambiance. However, they don’t need to stand out unless used as intentional design elements.

By carefully selecting unobtrusive luminaires, concealing light sources when possible, and reducing the number of fixtures, we create visually clean and harmonious environments.

Significant cost reduction.

A minimalist approach reduces the number of luminaires required, lowering not only fixture costs but also associated expenses like cabling, commissioning, and installation. Often, these secondary costs far exceed the cost of the luminaires themselves.

By prioritising quality over quantity, we ensure cost-effective solutions that enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
